Ebola: First Nigerian Patient Discharged From Hospital

                             

 

The Minister of Health today said that the first Nigerian Ebola patient has been discharged from hospital after the patient was declared fit and free from the virus. The minister also announced that the drug, Nano Silva, which was thought could be used to treat Ebola patients in Nigeria, was said not to have met the requirements of the National Health Research ethics code

Ebola Outbreak: “We Won’t End Strike” – Nigerian Doctors

Medical doctors under the aegis of Lagos State branch of the Nigerian Medical Association, who are currently on strike, have said they will not suspend the ongoing strike  because  imminent threat of the Ebola Virus in the state, noting that it was never part of their demands.


The Chairman of the association, Dr Tope Ojo, said the ongoing strike was not called because of Ebola and could not be called off because of the threat of the viral infection in the state. He said,

 “We are not on strike because of Ebola. It was never part of our demands. It wasn’t our fault.”
However, Ojo added that the doctors would continue to partner with the state government to monitor the trend of the disease to check its spread. The state chairman of the association spoke at a press briefing organized by the newly elected officials of NMA in the state. He also said the association regretted that his team had to take over the leadership of the association during the industrial dispute.

Maheeda in a new interview with Vanguard Newspaper has said prostitution should be made legal in the country. She said it’s everywhere already, and she thinks it should just be made legal once and for all.

“Yes, I think prostitution should be legalised. I have been there, I have been with these girls have been to Holland where I think it’s legal. It won’t be bad if it is legalised because it’s everywhere anyway. So it’s better if it’s legalised.”

Not Again! Algerian Plane With 116 On Board Disappears From Radar

 

Another day, another air disaster. This is beginning to get scary. An Air Algerie flight flying from Burkina Faso to Algeria with 116 people on board has dropped off radar.

Swift Air, the operators of the aircraft, say they lost contact with the flight 50 minutes after it took off this morning from Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. It was supposed to have
arrived at Algiers' Houari Boumediene Airport about four hours later but the plane has just disappeared.

"We have lost contact with the plane. At this moment, emergency services and our staff are working on finding out more on this situation." Swiftair said The plane, an MD-83, has 110 passengers on-board with 2 pilots and four crew members. Air Algerie is Algeria's national airline. Update: The plane crashed in Niger...continue for details...

It's been confirmed that the plane crashed near the capital of Niger, Niamey. Flight AH5017 was reported to be flying through an area affected by violent storms.

How did you come about the name Antar Laniyan ?

I know the name Laniyan is not a special one but Antar is peculiar. Some years back, a pregnant woman had a rival who wanted to marry her husband at all cost. This rival went diabolical to make sure the pregnant woman, my mother, did not give birth to me. And after staying 18months in my mother’s womb, they made some findings and it was revealed that my mother had to beg this rival for
me to come to life. Getting to my mother’s rival, she said they had to look for a goanna. Goanna is an animal called Aworinwo in Yoruba language but typical Yorubascall Goanna ‘Antar’. So, they used the Antar or goanna to make concoction for my mother. After some hours, I came to life and my mother decided to name me ‘Antar’ after the animal.
