Sunday Special: The Death Of All Your Enemies Does Not Guarantee Your Success In Life!

I notice a trend in Christianity in Nigeria today. There is so much prayer for the death of one’s enemies. The common belief is that if not for one’s enemies one might have experienced promotion and success. Therefore, to become successful, the typical Nigerian Christian believes that the “enemies of my progress must die!”.

But does the death of ALL your enemies translate to your success? Not necessarily. What if the cause of your failure is you? What if it is the unwanted habit you have been struggling with that has perpetually kept you average. It is very easy to point the accusative finger away from you but have you taken time to meditate to uncover the root cause of your problems? What if the enemy of your life is you?

What would God do to solve your problems if He was you? Will He tell the enemies to die? This is what He would do: Genesis 1:3 ¶ And God said, Let there be light.
Note that darkness was everywhere. God didn’t want the darkness. Darkness was a problem to Him because the perpetual presence of darkness wasn’t God’s desire in the creation plan.
If God was like some Nigerian Christians, this’ how He would try to get the darkness out of His situation:

“Every spirit of darkness covering the face of the earth, what are you waiting for, fall down and die by fire, by thunder!”.
No! God won’t do that! God spoke what He wanted to see. And since we are created in the image and likeness of God, the only way to get what you want is to do what God did: speak and focus on what you want.

You see, when God said Let there be light every opposing force to the fulfilment of God’s word had to capitulate to the power of the word. God’s word is too powerful for any enemy or opposing force to withstand. God said:

Isaiah 55:11 So will my word be which goes out of my mouth: it will not come back to me with nothing done, but it will give effect to my purpose, and do that for which I have sent it.(BBE)
For the word of God is living and powerful  (Hebrews 4:12a)NKJV
God said Let there be light , and darkness had no choice but give way and there was light. God didn’t have to tell the darkness (i.e the opposing force) to go away for light to come. He just spoke what He wanted. Just say God’s word concerning what you want, because Jesus said you will have whatever you say.Mark 11:23.

If you speak the word of God concerning what you want, that word is powerful to cut any opposing force contrary to its fulfilment. You don’t have to identify any enemies, just speak God’s word concerning what you want. If there’s any enemy that must die for the word of God to be fulfilled, so be it. Don’t be enemy-focused. Be solution-focused.
