World Cup: Spain, Australia, Cameroon Crash Out;Netherlands and Chile Advance To Second Round

                                      
Defending World Cup champion Spain, yesterday crashed out of the 2014 World Cup after losing its first two games in the group Stage. The dynastic Spanish side that booked its triumph at the 2010 World Cup with titles at the UEFA European Championship in 2008 and 2012 were eliminated by Chile who defeated them by 2-0 on Wednesday. Spain becomes the latest defending World Cup champion to fail to advance past the Group Stage. In 2010, defending champion Italy left South Africa after a loss and two draws in the group stage. In 2002, defending champion France suffered a surprise 1-0 defeat to Senegal and would head home after another loss and draw.
The win sees Chile advance to the second round of the World Cup.In the other matches of the day,  Netherlands thrashed Australia 3-2 to secure a spot in the second round of the competition, while Croatia kept their hopes alive of qualifying for the second round of the competition by defeating Cameroon by 4-0. The loss by Cameroon and Australia sees them crash out of the world cup.
