“President Jonathan To Unveil Centenary City On June 24″ – Minister Of Information.

 
               
President Goodluck Jonathan will perform the ground breaking of the Nigeria Centenary City project on June 24, Information Minister Labaran Maku said on Wednesday in Abuja.Maku, said this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting.

He added that the city was in commemoration of the country’s centenary celebration. “Today the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim, formally informed the council that the plan of Mr. President to unveil a Centenary City in Abuja in commemoration of Nigeria’s 100 years is coming to fruition on June 24. The President will be formally unveiling or doing the ground breaking of the Centenary City with which this administration plans to mark 100 years of Nigeria.
“The Centenary city project is taking place on the airport road within the Wawa District of the FCT. The city is going to be a modern city with a lot of facilities for commerce, with a lot of facilities for conferences, for recreation, for leisure; this city will be a national monument within Abuja.
The minister further reiterated that the Centenary project would be fully funded by the private sector. He, however, said the Federal Government would provide the land for the project while the provision of infrastructure would be funded by private investors.
